Remembering Robert Cartmell

ACE has lost one of its giants. Long before guide books or the internet made searching for the latest and greatest roller coaster a possibility, Robert Cartmell led the way in roller coaster research. With his 1974 New York Times article, “The Quest for the Ultimate Roller Coaster,” Cartmell began bringing together like-minded coaster enthusiasts for the first time.

2019 ACE Preservation Conference

May 10, 2019

It’s not too soon to begin making plans for next year. The 2019 ACE Preservation Conference will take place May 10 – 12, 2019. A distinction in this particular event is a mix of coasters that have been preserved as well as a park that has been saved. ACE’s hosts will be Kentucky Kingdom (Louisville, Kentucky) and Camden Park (Huntington, West Virginia).

West Coast Racers coming soon

Six Flags Magic Mountain is doing something amazing. Not only is the park opening a new coaster. It will be Magic Mountain’s 20th. West Coast Racers combines some characteristics of coasters from all over, as well as from the past, but does so in a completely original package that has never been done.

Roller Coaster Museum debuts model

One of ACE’s longest running goals is the establishment of a museum and support of the National Roller Coaster Museum and Archives. At the recent Golden Ticket Awards held in Branson, Missouri, industry professionals got a more detailed look at the progress made by the NRCMA.
